Siam Reap is a popular destination in northwestern Cambodia. One of the main reasons is the Ang Thihakasi Angkor region, which covers an area of 400 km and contains ancient temples and architecture from the 9th to the 15th century and was once great civilization.
In addition to the Anchor region, the ancient city of Siam Reap, markets, temples and the Siam Reap river flow through it. There are rice paddies, floating villages and lotus fields on the outskirts of the city.
In this article, I suggest that if you visit Siam Harvest for a short time, there are some things you can do, but don’t visit the old Angkor. I have also suggested places to eat, places to stay and other destination tips.
What to see and do
You don’t need much time in Siem Reap to see the best! This is a great place to relax (in a good hotel), enjoy a massage or go out for a drink and have fun along Pub Street. Below are suggestions on what you can see and do in 24-72 hours.
See temples of Angkor.
One of the highlights of Siam Reap is to visit the ancient temples of Angkor. These temples are from the Khmer Kingdom, and since 1992 they have been listed as World Heritage by UNESCO.
You can get a passport for one day, three days or seven days. The one-day passport is the US $ 37, three days is the US $ 62 and seven days is the US $ 72 (at the time of writing). You must pay when you buy your ticket (even if you have ATMs). I was told that if you buy your ticket after 4:35 pm, you can enter the temples at sunset the next day before your main tour.
You can ride a bike through the temple, or the right way is to hire a tuk-tuk driver. Keep in mind that this is because the temples are quite extensive, and there is no distance between them. It is worth noting that there are places to buy food and drinks around temples.

During my visit, I paid $ 13 for a small tour with a tuk-tuk driver, which allowed me to visit many of the city’s main temples. I had the driver until 3 pm. I paid another $ 5 for a sunrise at the most famous temple, Angkor Wat. This meant that the driver would take me at 4.30 am to get a ticket and then at dawn. Don’t worry so much about this early start for the driver, since they are used to it, and most of them will take swords and sleep while you go to the temple (the visit takes 2 to 3 hours, including sunrise). The drivers tell you a little about the temples, but not much. Some temples, such as Angkor Wat, have individual tour guides if you need them.
After visiting Angkor Wat, you will also visit other temples according to your visit.
Anchor watt
Angkor Wat is one of Cambodia’s most famous shrines and even has the national flag. This temple was built in the 12th century by King Khamar II. The temple is dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu, and you will find fascinating details, sculptures and stone sculptures while exploring the earth.
When it comes to the temple, the most popular time to go is for dawn, and you may be surprised at how many people arrive at that time. There are two small ponds in front of the temple on both sides of the main road, where you will find many trying to shoot the classic (like my image at the beginning of this post).
Once the complex is entirely open, you can explore the terrain and trails and climb to the top floor. It is worth doing this as soon as possible. Otherwise, you will be in a big queue.
Ta prom
Another famous sanctuary is the Ta Prom, built by King Jayavarman VI of the 12th century. The temple is now in ruins in ruins and can be seen with giant trees and roots. One of the exciting things about this temple is that it is used as a filming location for video games and Tomb Raider movies. During my visit, part of the temple was also preserved.
When travelling to Angkor, there are different rules:
There is no appropriate dress code, such as shorts, short skirts, bare shoulders
Do not touch the monuments
Do not smoke or smoke
No loot
I respect the monks and not take their photos without permission.
